Keke Palmer and Jonathan Majors‘ interview may never see the light of day. The Hustlers star was supposed to have the controversial Marvel actor on her Baby, This Is Keke Palmer podcast this week. However, after the episode failed to drop on Tuesday, fans speculated that Palmer decided to pull the plug after their collaboration sparked backlash online. While fans are disappointed that she even invited Majors on her show in the first place, they’re relieved Palmer may have finally realized she made a mistake.
What Happened to Keke Palmer and Jonathan Majors’ Podcast Episode?
Keke Palmer and Jonathan Majors’ podcast episode was scheduled to go live on Tuesday, April 8. However, it was never uploaded. Instead, it’s been replaced with an interview with rapper Kash Doll. Palmer didn’t explain the last-minute change regarding her podcast, but many speculate she canceled the original episode due to backlash.
According to a description for their episode, Palmer and Majors discussed his allegations of abuse. They talked about what it meant for him to take “real accountability” for his actions while simulatenously learning to forgive himself. On top of that, the preview teased Majors would open up about his acting career taking a massive hit following his controversies.
“We’re sitting down with Jonathan Majors to talk about what life has looked like after being convicted of harassment and assault,” the description read, adding that things would get “complicated” and “messy” during the pair’s chat.
Fans React to the Canceled Episode
Some fans praised Keke Palmer for being brave enough to challenge and question Majors on her show. However, many didn’t see it that way. Others criticized the Nope actress for giving Majors a platform. They thought he didn’t deserve to explain himself and that it would be best if he just left the public eye altogether. They also felt it was ironic of Palmer and Majors to be discussing accountability when he has previously denied his abuse allegations. Because of this, they flooded Palmer’s social media pages asking her to cancel the episode.
Since she appears to have listened, fans are expressing relief that Palmer considered their opinions. “I knew she’d do the right thing,” one person said after the episode failed to go live. “She heard the feedback and took action,” another wrote.
Fans also thought Keke Palmer may have avoided a scandal of her own if she chose to side with Majors. “Couldn’t ruined her career tbh,” a fan said.
The drama comes after Majors was accused of physical and verbal abuse by several women. The controversies cost him to be dropped by Marvel Studios. Over the years, Major made appearances throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kang the Conquerer. In 2021, he portrayed the character in Loki. He then returned as Kang in 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Majors’ character was also supposed to have a bigger role in upcoming Avengers films. However, after he was found guilty of harassment and assault in December 2023, the studio parted ways with him. As a result, the Kang storyline was canceled, causing the movies to go in a different direction.
