She’s also the mother of two young children, River and Remington, whom she shares with her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. Clarkson has settled into her life as a single mother. However, with all that’s on her plate, she allegedly can’t help but feel some resentment toward Blackstock for how their divorce played out.
According to a report by Radar Online, Kelly Clarkson isn’t happy about how life after her divorce has progressed for her and Brandon Blackstock. The American Idol alum is said to be hard at work on her talk show, as well as other career endeavors. Meanwhile, her ex-husband allegedly has an easy and cushy lifestyle in Montana, where he lives and has access to the nearby ranch that Kelly bought when the couple were married.
Clarkson is reportedly upset that she’s working so hard to fund her lavish lifestyle, while Blackstock appears to have it made due to their divorce settlement. Following their split, Kelly was forced to give over $1.3 million to her ex. She also had to pay $45,000 a month in child support for their two children. She was also ordered to fork over $115,000 a month in spousal support. However, that order ended in January 2024.
For his part, Brandon Blackstock is currently working the ranch life and has created his own rodeo show. He’s reportedly selling pricey tickets to VIP buyers and earning a good living doing so. Meanwhile, Kelly Clarkson is allegedly struggling to balance work and life. In addition to her parenting duties, she’s reportedly upset that she’s been unable to find love again since her divorce.

“Kelly is wealthy, but it galled her to have to pay millions for what she feels is no good reason. She thinks he made enough money off her when they were married,” the insider stated. “Brandon walked away with a tidy fortune that’s keeping him in luxury. And he’s enjoying the big payoff in Montana where he’s raking it in with his new rodeo show – with Kelly’s ex-assistant Brittney Jones.”
To make matters worse, Clarkson was said to have loved escaping to her Montana ranch. However, because of Blackstock’s involvement at the property and his new life in the state, the singer feels like that’s also been taken away from her.
“Meanwhile, Kelly’s running herself ragged in New York doing her show and struggling to meet a new partner,” the source continued. “It doesn’t seem fair, at least not to her friends! Kelly’s more vulnerable than should would like to admit, and it doesn’t help that she’s working herself to the bone while Brandon’s having a blast and showing off in Montana. Montana was once her sanctuary. Now he’s ruined it for her.”
Kelly and Brandon first began dating in 2012. At the time, Brandon’s father, Narval Blackstock, served as Kelly’s manager. They got engaged later that year and officially tied the knot in 2013, per People Magazine. However, after 7 years of marriage, the pair called in quits in 2020.
Kelly Clarkson has been candid about her life and divorce through the years. She’s even publicly bashed Brandon Blackstock in songs. However, she continues her successful career without him despite the fact that he’s enjoying the benefits of being her ex-husband.
