Kentucky Father Voted for Trump and Now He’s Shocked He Might Lose Housing Benefits, ‘Alot of these types of voters thought they were the exception’

You got what you voted for

When you vote for a presidential candidate who runs on hating immigrants, people of color, the LGBTQ+ community, and more, then suddenly have the tables flipped on you, it’s a big pill to swallow. On social media, a TikToker is bringing to light the unfortunate consequences of conservatives voting for President Trump. Many are admitting, such as one Kentucky father, they have a few concerns they won’t get any help despite their support.

“My vote was supposed to hurt others. Now it’s hurting me. That’s unacceptable,” TikToker Haan captioned his video with, mocking Chris Wright, a single father of four boys living in Kentucky. He is also wheelchair-bound. Haan adds Chris is a “recipient of low-income housing benefits,” and learned the Trump administration wishes to limit Section 8. Recipients will allegedly receive only two years of benefits, rather than the amount of time they need to stay in their homes.

Haan shows a news segment, talking about how Chris lives in Dillingham Heights. This is a housing complex overseen by the Housing Authority of Richmond. “If he did that and if I was limited to two years, it would devastate me and my children. I mean, there’s no question,” Chris says. Even admitting he’s a Trump supporter. Even after knowing he’s going to take so much from Chris and his family, he gives his support regardless.

In the end, Haan says it’s no surprise that “he voted against his own interest” like so many Trump supporters. Now, they’re upset he’s making cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP benefits, and more. These individuals who rely on low-income assistance are realizing he wanted to cut them all along. Are his ICE raids enough to trade social safety nets? And if an administration does that, do they have your best interests?

“A lot of these types of voters thought they were the exception,” one commenter chimed in with. And many voted for mass deportation for the sake of saving jobs.

“My husband works in housing. The number of people getting housing benefits that voted Trump would shock people. It’s not some it’s most. Of all ethnicities, genders, abilities, circumstances. All went in on Trump,” said another. Now they’re just another victim of these ridiculous cuts to social programs.
