A woman in Lexington, Kentucky, got home and was surprised to find a car had crashed into her house. Rather than worry about the building’s condition, she chose to focus on one thing and one thing only: her houseplant. It appears that her sense of humor is greater than a pretty much destroyed wall.
TikToker Lana Gritsko shared the very moment she stepped into her home. From the get-go, she took the situation pretty well, joking, “You could have just asked for the keys.” Apparently, someone had broken into the house following the crash.
Inside, Lana’s husband, probably used to her sense of humor, laughed. Meanwhile, a Lexington police officer, in what was labeled an attempt to “snitch,” blamed the breached door on the fire department.
The door, however, was the least of her worries. Someone had driven their car into the house wall, completely wrecking it. However, at the moment, that wasn’t what worried her the most.
“Is my plant okay?” the Kentucky woman asked. “Oh, my monstera! Do you guys know how long it took for me to grow that?“
Someone, perhaps the officer, told her that her Roomba was also wrecked. Fortunately for Lana, her peace lily and another plant were left unscathed.
Incident Explained, Reactions
So, what happened? In a follow-up clip, Lana revealed that an unnamed woman had backed into their driveway at high speed. She hit her husband’s parked truck as a result, which then drove into the home, destroying the wall and, therefore, the monstera.
Fortunately for Lana, her husband, and even their young daughter, they weren’t home at the time of the incident. For obvious reasons, they had to move to a new place due to the condition of their home.
The original clip went viral, garnering more than 250,000 likes and 1,600 comments. Everyone matched Lana’s comedic energy, wondering how one could remain calm in such a dire situation.
“What is your lexapro dose? I need to be this calm lol,” one user commented. Another one wrote, “‘My monstera!’ Gulr, your HOUSE!” A third one said, “House replaceable. That Monstera, that’s a crime. We need to hold whoever accountable for the Monstera.”
Despite all odds, the monstera survived the dramatic crash. In a third clip, the Kentucky woman showed the plant and said she was doing fine. It, however, lost one of its leaves. Other than that, it appears that the monstera will live to “plant” another day.
