He’s the man responsible for rejuvenating the Marvel films – but now Kevin Feige is bringing his producing magic to Star Wars.
Yep. In a move big enough to shake the balance of the Force, Kevin Feige is set to produce a new Star Wars movie for Disney.
Reported by THR, it has been revealed that the 46-year-old film producer will work alongside franchise head Kathleen Kennedy following the release of Episode IX. Since Episode IX – titled The Rise of Skywalker – is thought to end the Skywalker saga, Feige is going to help breath new life into the franchise with new stories and a new direction.
A Disney statement from Disney Studios co-chairman and chief creative officer Alan Horn confirmed that Kennedy is “pursuing a new era in Star Wars storytelling”. Horn also noted that Feige was a “die-hard” fan of the franchise, much like he was with the Marvel superheroes before making the Marvel films.
Since Kevin Feige is the mastermind behind the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, many fans on Twitter have expressed joy at the announcement.

For some, a Feige-produced Star Wars movie is like Christmas (or Life-Day?) come early…

Perhaps the excitement surrounding Feige’s entry into the franchise is because of the divisive nature of recent films. Both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi have been criticized for catering to Star Wars nostalgia without offering much new. Others have also derided the depiction of classic characters like Luke Skywalker, whose rundown Jedi Master personality was felt to be far from the idealistic, heart-filled hero of the original trilogy.
Also of note is the disappointing box office returns of Solo: A Star Wars Story. The commercial results of the movie took Disney back to the drawing board and discouraged them from releasing a new movie every year.
