Kiefer Sutherland will be reprising Jack Bauer for as long as he can. Kiefer Sutherland in 24 is an idea the Designated Survivor actor isn’t ready to let go of yet. The actor explained his reasons for wanting to return to the movie if the chance opens up again. Find out what his reasons are below.
Kiefer Sutherland is Open To Reprising Jack Bauer
One thing fans love is seeing Kiefer Sutherland reprising Jack Bauer in the critically acclaimed movie 24. And Kiefer isn’t saying no to reprising the role of Jack Bauer either.
ET spoke to Kiefer in New York City Wednesday night for the premiere of his new Paramount+ series, Rabbit Hole. There, he opened up about why the idea of Kiefer Sutherland in 24 again isn’t bad.
“It’s the one thing I’ve learned to never say no to,” Kiefer said about bringing the beloved series back.
“When we finished season 8, I said we were done, and yet we did a season 9. There’s a lot of elements that would have to come together to make that happen, but I certainly would not be the reason why it didn’t.”
Kiefer also added that playing Jack Bauer was the best experience in his decades-long career. He revealed that he loved his character in 24 and is grateful that people received it well.
Kiefer Sutherland Is Excited About His New Movie
In 24, Kiefer found and fought off the bad guys. However, in his new series, Rabbit Hole, his character, John Weir, becomes the target.
Having become the hunted, John Weir becomes a master of deception in the world of corporate espionage. Powerful forces who can influence and control populations framed John for murder.
Kiefer spoke to the outlet on Wednesday about the twists and turns the espionage thriller takes viewers on. He also spoke about whether or not he was surprised or privy to the plot points in the series.
“It was a mixture of both,” he answered. The Forsaken actor revealed he was with the show’s creators, John and Glen when they created the series. However, he shared that he was still got surprised by the outcome whenever the talented writers fleshed out the ideas.
“Yeah, I have to be honest, there were a couple moments I was really surprised by the way that idea was delivered and excited by,” the 56-year-old replied.
He added, “That’s what made me want to do the show and I was excited from beginning to end.”
As for the number one question he thinks fans will be asking while watching the series, Kiefer said, “Is this all possible?”
While it’s something he wondered himself, he said that “everything” done in the show is possible. He added that it also has some history of being done before.
“This manipulation of information, of technology and how to take your personal information and manipulate that and use it against you, is a very frightening scenario,” Kiefer explained, “but it’s also a reality that on some level, we’re going to have to deal with as a society.”
Although 24 was canceled for financial reasons, Kiefer Sutherland reprising Jack Bauer in 24 is sure to make fans happy. Hopefully, if the series is ever revived again, Kiefer will be in it.
