Kim Kardashian continues to make major power moves while her ex-husband Kanye West persists with his online meltdown. On Tuesday, the reality star made a significant business announcement involving her brand, SKIMS.
In a post on Instagram, Kardashian unveiled a collaboration between her shapewear brand, SKIMS, and the sports apparel powerhouse, Nike. “Introducing NikeSKIMS. A new brand coming this spring for the body obsessed. Designed to sculpt and engineered to perform,” she captioned the post. The collaboration will see the creation of women’s apparel, with plans to add footwear and accessories in the future. This Spring, consumers will get access to the first products from the collection at some retail locations in the U.S. and the NikeSKIMS website. By 2026, NikeSkims will roll out globally.
In a follow-up post, the business mogul shared a photo of an identity card showing her as the head of the NikeSkims department. Kardashian has remained mostly mum about the monumental collaboration. However, NYT reports the two companies have been working at it since October 2023. Heidi O’Neill, Nike’s president of consumer, product, and brand, has since compared Kardashian’s impact to Michael Jordan’s. “It’s hard not to think of her as the Michael Jordan of influencers.”
Kanye West Mocks Nike’s Latest Design Amid Kim Kardashian Announcement
Kim Kardashian has wasted no time living up to the Jordan hype. According to Daily Mail, Nike’s shares went up 3% on Tuesday following the announcement. However, the socialite’s victory can’t live outside the shadows of her ex-husband, Kanye West.
Just hours before the KUWTK alum shared her news, Kanye went on an Instagram rant about Nike. The Donda rapper took a sarcastic swipe at the brand, subtly accusing them of copying a Yeezy design.
“This new Nike design really moved us, really inspired us at Yeezy. We appreciate you guys work to the team team [sic] behind these thanks for making something new and special. Love Ye.”
It is unsure what design Kanye refers to as his Yeezy brand hasn’t released a sneaker collection in a while. However, fans can’t stop talking about how Kardashian has won this round over her ex-husband.
“Revenge, just do it,” gushed one fan, playing on Nike’s famous slogan.
“Huge!!! She strikes again!!” a second fan gushed while another added, “Nobody does revenge like Kim 😍.”
“Kanye will be seething,” one user observed. A second fan agreed with the sentiment, replying, “Which is precisely why she did it.”
With Kardashian’s SKIMS already valued at $4 billion since its launch in 2109, the collaboration with Nike will surely catapult her to new realms of wealth. It is unsure if the same can be said of Kanye, whose recent anti-semitic tirade resulted in Shopify’s shutdown of his Yeezy website.
