The King of Fighters XIV‘s latest trailer, which debuted at PlayStation Experience 2015, confirmed a total of 50 fighters.

The trailer unveils returning characters including Angel, Billy Kane, King, Kula and Ralph. SNK Playmore has already confirmed Kyo Kusanagi, Iori Yagami, Chang, Leona and Andy Bogard. Developer SNK Playmore has yet to announce new characters that will make their first-ever appearance in the KOF series.

Much like its fighting game rival Street Fighter IV and the upcoming Street Fighter V, The King of Fighters XIV will feature 3D character models fighting on a 2D plane. The game will continue its tradition of the 3-on-3 team battle system, and it boasts new multiplayer modes like “Party Battle.”

A lot about the game is still unknown. When The King of Fighters XIV teaser trailer made its debut in September, fans were concerned about the quality of the character models. At the time, SNK Playmore assured fans that the game was in alpha development, and the graphics were not a final indicator of what The King of Fighters XIV would look like upon release. After the PlayStation Experience 2015 trailer was released, fans continued to express concern over the game’s overall quality.

The game will start a new arc, and SNK Playmore states that previous arcs Orochi, Nests and Ash won’t be revisited.

The King of Fighters XIV will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 4 in 2016.
