Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning appears to be officially happening. The original version of the beloved RPG was acquired by THQ Nordic all the way back in 2018. Since then, we haven’t heard much about any plans for the IP.

Technically, we still haven’t heard anything about the company’s plans. That doesn’t mean we can’t get excited. Twitter user Walking Cat was among the first to stumble across the Xbox One store listing.

Not only is there a listing for Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, but there is an official description on the page as well.

“The hit RPG returns! From the minds of the bestselling author R.A. Salvatore, Spawn creator Todd McFarlane, and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion lead designer Ken Rolston, comes Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning. Remastered with stunning visuals and refined gameplay Re-Reckoning delivers intense, customizable RPG combat inside a sprawling game world.”

The existence of a Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning store page is the good news. The bad news is the game doesn’t arrive until August 11.

There isn’t even so much as the option to pre-order at this point. However, the existence of this page, which appears to be new, could be a sign THQ is going to be making an announcement fairly soon.

The original Kingdoms of Amalur released in 2012. Electronic Arts published the title, adding a bit of fodder to the idea the remaster could portend an eventual sequel.

A game that evokes comparisons to Elder Scrolls Online and Skyrim, Reckoning predated both. On the Steam store, the original title has over 10,000 user reviews, giving it a “very positive” rating.

While the title might not be all that well known to today’s gaming community, even the hint of a return got at least one very big fan fired up. Greg Miller of Kinda Funny fame posted about his excitement on Twitter after seeing the store page.
