Ideally, amusement parks should be about having fun with others, enjoying the rides, getting some ice cream to counter the heat, and having a stress-free day. I say ideally because some visitors this season don’t make things so easy for everyone. As you may know (because it isn’t that subtle), cicada season is happening, and the people at Kings Island, Ohio, have started to suffer greatly. While these insects are mostly harmless, people have found them flying all around them. And to make matters worse, this infestation is so out of control that people are considering stopping going to this place.
TikTok user kaylamvallee shared the video showcasing the cicada infestation in Kings Island. While we all know the cicada season is happening right now, this year has been one of the worst. The short video shows how these insects have invaded every nook and cranny of the amusement park. It starts with some shots showing them on railings and just flying around the park.
However, you can also see them hitting people’s faces, some hiding on men’s beards, and some even going for a dip inside people’s ice cream. A few kids have become so annoyed by the cicadas that they start crying. The video continues to show these flying and noisy invaders until one of the people in the video says, “Alright, I’m f*cking leaving.”
This is worrying, as the cicada infestation is affecting people’s experiences inside Kings Island. Yet, the authorities or the park’s staff can do nothing about it. As you know, the cicada season began in late April and will likely continue to late June or early July. Unfortunately, we still have a few weeks ahead of us with these noisy visitors.
Many people who were at Kings Island commented on the OP’s video.
“We are all struggling together 😭” – Addi via TikTok.
“I dropped my son and his friends off up there Saturday and didn’t even want them to open my car door to get out because I was scared that they would fly inside. They were everywhere.” – MrsDavis718 via TikTok.
However, it seems that this situation isn’t exclusive to Kings Island. Other TikTok users shared their experiences outside of this place.
“They’re so bad in mason 😭” – Ang via TikTok.
“Berea, Kentucky here….I can relate 😂💀” – whistlepigamy via TikTok.
As you can see, Ohio isn’t alone in this, yet it seems one of the states that is suffering the most. Sadly, there are only two solutions for this. We either learn to leave with them as they fly toward our faces or postpone our summer outings. I don’t know which one is the best, though.
