Months of speculation about the possible return of Jon Snow in Game of Thrones has made actor Kit Harington finally speak out. In an interview with TimeOut, Harington tried to put the rumors to rest.

“Look, I’m not in the show any more. I’m definitely not in the new series,” Harington said. “I filmed some scenes of me being dead – [jokily] it’s some of my best work. I don’t have a clue [about GoT’s upcoming season]. I know how long I’m a corpse for, but I can’t tell you that!”

The Game of Thrones TV series, based on George R.R. Martin’s novels, has had an adoring fanbase all the way from the start of the show in 2011. And while the fans wait patiently (or not so much) in between each season, they can get some pretty crazy theories, particularly when it comes to their favorite characters. Jon Snow is certainly one of the most beloved characters, so it makes sense why no one wants to believe he is gone for good.

However, fan theories, about Snow’s return, might not be as off as Harington wants us to believe. Game of Thrones is all about surprises – from the time Ned Stark’s head was lopped off to Tywin Lannister’s unflattering end, the producers of this show love to catch their audience off guard. And with the TV series deviating from the books more and more, the surprises are sure to become even more frequent. You really don’t know what you can expect next.

Game of Thrones Season 6 returns on HBO Sunday, April 24.
