Castlevania has long since been one of gaming’s most treasured franchises. Back when the series was a mainstay in the world of gaming, Konami iterated and innovated in the 2D side-scrolling space. As time went on and games grew more prominent in scope, so did Konami’s. With forays into full 3D games and then eventually returning to 2D, the franchise has seen quite a lot of unique concepts. While the series has largely laid dormant, Konami has been re-releasing some of their classic Castlevania games for modern systems. With these new re-releases, Konami has been looking back at its 35 years with much respect. And now, announced today, is an upcoming Konami NFT auction made in the style of Castlevania. Officially listed on their blog post is the Konami Memorial NFT, this set of 14 Castlevania Anniversary NFTs will be auctioned featuring pixel art GIFs from the first 3 Castlevania games and artwork from Castlevania Aria of Sorrow and Circle of the Moon.

What Does The Castlevania Anniversary NFT Set Showcase?
As this NFT collection sprang up out of nowhere, Konami likely did this to capitalize on the re-releases. With the old titles being available once again, the desire to merchandize the franchise grows larger. Recent releases have included the Castlevania Anniversary Collection, Castlevania Advance Collection, and most recently Castlevania Requiem. The series is anything but gone, yet Konami is putting in the bare minimum. After the backlash GSC Game World received for their inclusion of in-game NFT NPCs and blockchain use, the Castlevania anniversary NFTs offer nothing in return for their auctioned value. With 11 of them being gameplay videos of classic Castlevania games, the other 3 are simply just artwork from some fan-favorite Castlevania games. These NFTs will go up for auction starting on January 12th and ending just a few days afterward.
