It’s no secret that Kristi Noem has few fans in today’s America. And now, her recent response during an interview in Indiana for C-SPAN is earning her even less viewer approval ratings. When a reporter asked her about the recent ICE raid detainments, she didn’t answer. She gave a bold-faced lie, and thousands are showing photo and video proof as evidence.
During a press conference in Indiana to discuss the most recent ICE raids, Noem was asked a brutally honest question. The press can often be ruthless, but in this case, it was completely warranted. With countless videos going viral daily showing ICE brutality, those watching awaited her response with bated breath. Rather than acknowledging the violence witnessed on Indiana’s streets, Noem gave a vague lie.
“No American citizens have been arrested or detained,” she said, straight-faced. “We focus on those who are here illegally.” Her response was as infuriating for some as Trump’s recent statement that he doesn’t think ICE raids have gone far enough. At the same time, Noem’s response contradicted hundreds, if not thousands, of cases of illegally detained citizens, and viewers on Reddit took it upon themselves to fire back.
“False. Without giving their kidnapping victims trials, they can’t prove those people are here illegally, nor are those victims afforded an opportunity to prove citizenship or legal residency,” one Reddit user said. Another replied, agreeing with the legality and adding, “It’s not just false, it’s a lie. A lie is worse than just being wrong. Can we please start calling a spade a spade, this isn’t decorum and civility, it’s complicity.”
Others referenced all the videos of ICE raids, many of which never make it to the media. “I have three dozen videos saved to a hard drive that says otherwise,” one Reddit user commented. Others rallied in support, saying, “Chicago: clears throat,” and “Los Angeles would like a word.”
