Kim Kardashian has been labeled a “freak” for her recent behavior amid the ongoing LA wildfires. With almost a reported dozen tragically killed in the catastrophe, thousands of residents in Los Angeles have lost their homes, and hundreds of thousands have had to evacuate for safety. While big names like Paris Hilton, Jeff Bridges, and Eugene Levy have lost their celebrity mansions to the flames, countless ordinary folk have also suffered from the spreading of the wildfire. Despite this, Kim Kardashian has posted a “soulless” marketing ad for Skims amid the ongoing disaster.
Instead of spreading awareness about the fires or the “thousands of people and animals have lost everything,” Kim Kardashian’s Skims account on Instagram posted the following: “Refresh your wardrobe for less – snag 30% off our viral Soft Lounge dress during winter’s biggest event. Raven wears the Soft Lounge Long Slip Dress, size S, in Bordeaux.”
Skims was launched by Kim back in 2019, and the business has since made billions selling underwear and loungewear. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with advertising one’s clothing line, seeing how successful it’s been over the years. However, many feel that doing so during a natural disaster, no less, is certainly a show of her true character.
“Kim, there’s people that are dying,” says a top comment on her Skims post. “Still trying to make money from people during the horrific fires,” chimes in another. A third commenter goes as far as to say that Skims should be boycotted, seeing how Kim seems to care very little about the whole situation: “This company and Kim only care about making money and don’t give a crap about anyone. This company should be boycotted.”
‘Unhinged’ Kim Kardashian Gets Called Out By Critic
Skims’ latest ad on Instagram isn’t the only place where internet users have gathered to criticize the billionaire socialite. Kim Kardashian and Trump critic Meredith Lynch has used her platform to slam the reality TV star, openly calling her a “freak” due to her “absolutely unhinged” post on Skims’ account.
Many of the comments on Meredith’s post echo the same sentiment: Kim Kardashian should have either delayed or avoided posting her clothing ads during a time like this. With thousands of likes of support, the top comment reads: “She has never cared, and it’s appalling how ppl keep supporting her.” Another calls the celebrity businesswoman “soulless” for her shameless act.
However, amid the heavy criticism, some comments stand in support of Kim Kardashian, saying that Meredith should instead ignore celebrity behavior and focus on spreading awareness of the wildfires. “Why does it matter???” asks a follower. “You can post resources instead of ranting about what others aren’t doing!!!!” “But you are watching Kim K and not helping either!” says another. Several other commenters agree that Meredith’s timeline should be filled with resource links or posts about her donating to the cause rather than complaining about others.
Whatever the case, the LA wildfires are a horrible situation for everyone affected. And while casting responsibility on wealthy celebrities to do more to help the victims isn’t ideal, it’s also not a good show of character to post clothing ads during such a tragic time.
