Lady Gaga was the victim of cruel body-shamers toward the start of the pandemic, with remarks regarding her weight dominating photos of her street outing. Stepping into the L.A. sunshine for a coffee run, the 38-year-old showed off her curves in a sporty spandex look, going skimpy up top and displaying her belly.
While The Daily Mail‘s readers did attempt to shut down the shaming, remarks calling the Chromatica singer “fat” and “overweight” nonetheless dominated, with the most-liked reply saying that she’d “gained the COVID 15.” The photos, taken in June 2020, also saw Gaga accompanied by then-boyfriend and now-fiance, Michael Polansky.
Lady Gaga Turns Heads On L.A. Coffee Run
Opting for an all-black look, Gaga flashed her toned legs in a slightly sheer, mesh-effect pair of leggings paired with an itty-bitty crop top.
Going low-cut as she flaunted her curves, the Haus Labs founder also showed off her midriff, turning heads in her sleek, banded top and with a chain necklace accentuating her torso. Looking tan and fit, Gaga kept safe in a face mask, although she was identifiable. Sporting her locks dyed blonde and with plenty of dark roots visible, the Grammy winner kept low-key, tying her hair back and wearing barely any makeup. Meanwhile, a black sneaker finish completed the stylish outfit.
Body-Shaming Remarks Calling Her ‘Fat’
In some photos, Gaga carried an iced latte, also holding Michael’s hand.
The replies were not kind. Over 1,800 fans agreed when a user said: “Looks like she gained the COVID 15 like the rest of us.” Another, meanwhile, said that Gaga had gained “quarantine weight.”
“Unflattering pics!” another said, with further users straight-up calling the eating disorder survivor “fat.” Fortunately, some came out to defend the singer amid the tirade of bullying comments. One fan retorted:
“What’s with the comments people. AN UNAIRBRUSHED CELEBRITY who feels CONFIDENT! Stop bashing, as most people look like this! And those who think otherwise are clearly narrow-minded and are probably way bigger in denial! You go Gaga!“
Lady Gaga once again faced scrutiny over her weight this year, with fans assuming she was pregnant after seeing her rocking a slightly rounder belly while attending her sister’s wedding. The blonde brushed it off, saying that she hadn’t been hitting the gym as much.
Those commenting on the coffee outing might not have been aware that Gaga has suffered from an eating disorder in the past, something she’s bravely opened up about.
