Loot makes the world go round in your usual isometric ARPG. That’s how it’s been since the first Diablo game, and that’s also how it is now, with the latest iteration being Last Epoch. However, Last Epoch makes it easier to get the items you want. It has a rather robust and lovely crafting system that’s more intricate than Diablo 4‘s but less confusing than Path of Exile‘s. Here’s our Last Epich crafting guide to make it easier for you.
Last Epoch Crafting UI Guide
While Last Epoch has a wonderful crafting system, it doesn’t really give a hands-on tutorial on what does which. You usually have to fiddle with things for yourself, and you might end up wasting some materials in doing so or even destroying a good item unwittingly.
Hence, here’s an explanation for the Last Epoch crafting UI so you know what each button or function does. Also, if you don’t know already, you can access this menu by pressing “F” on the keyboard by default or selecting it in the radial menu if you’re using a controller.
Refer to the numbered explanations below for the guide. We’ve also placed lines on which goes where.
- This is where you place the item you want to craft or modify. Note that it cannot accept Unique or Set items.
- These occupied slots indicate the modifications or Affixes present in the item. By default, craftable items in Last Epoch start with four Affix slots.
- The large circle slot at the bottom is for Runes.
- This is your Rune supply. You can use Runes to add, clear, extract, or reroll Affixes present in an item. Some rare Runes will also let you fully upgrade the item into a Unique item of the same type.
- An empty Affix slot means you can put an Affix Shard in there. It’s indicated by a cross in the crafting menu.
- That long list on the right is the Affix Shard supply. This is the bulk of your crafting resources. You can use these to fill in empty Affix slots or upgrade existing ones. They have varying effects depending on the item type as you can see on the image.
- That small button next to the occupied Affix slot merely lets you upgrade the Affix. That is provided you have enough Affix Shards for the upgrade or if you have enough Forging Potential (basically the item’s durability, more on that later).
- The Glyph Slot is well, for Glyphs, and they’re not as significant as Runes or Shards, but they have their rather handy utility when crafting.
- This is your Glyph supply. Glyphs are support crafting materials in Last Epoch that you can use to either preserve the item’s durability (Forging Potential), change an Affix randomly, or modify the outcomes of the crafting.
- To make your search for Affixes easier, just type the keyword in the search bar or filter through them.
- The Forging Potential, which we mentioned earlier is basically just the item’s durability. If it goes down to zero, the item will become un-craftable.
- Once you have your mind set on what you want, just press the rectangle button to initiate the craft.
There you have it. Don’t forget to transfer the item in the crafting menu slot back to your inventory. On that note, you can even use the crafting menu as storage.
