Law Roach’s retirement may have come as a shock to many, but he isn’t completely done with the fashion industry. He made his first public appearance since his retirement on Tuesday at the Fashion Trust US Awards.
Law Roach, 44, sent shock waves through the fashion world when he dramatically announced his retirement a week ago. Roach is regarded as one of the most powerful celebrity stylists and has worked with big names like Zendaya, Celine Dion, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Anne Hathaway, and many more.
The fashion star, who is fondly called an “image architect,” made the bombshell announcement via his Instagram page. While sharing the news, Roach claimed he has had enough with ‘the politics, the lies, and false narratives’ in the fashion world.
Roach was later interviewed by The Cut, and he expounded on his retirement. The stylist confirmed he had only resigned from celebrity styling but would continue working in the fashion world.
In his words:
“I’m not retiring from fashion, because I love it so much. But styling, in the way that I’ve been of service to other people, I’m retiring from that.”
Law Roach’s retirement comes after Zendaya was bashed by fans for her treatment of Roach at the Louis Vuitton show during Paris Fashion Week. However, Roach has come out in defense of Zendaya and claimed there was no disrespect.

Law Roach Spotted Since Retirement
Despite Law Roach’s retirement, he has still vowed to be very active in the fashion world. On Tuesday, he made his first public appearance since his sudden retirement.
Roach looked in high spirits as he posed for pictures on the red carpet at the inaugural Fashion Trust US Awards at Goya studios in Los Angeles.
The fashion designer looked stunning in a gray Gucci maxi-blazer that featured a large diamond brooch. Underneath the blazer, Roach wore a white collared shirt which he paired with black pants and black patent leather Louboutin boots.
Roach currently sits on the board of advisors for fashion trust US. The non-profit organization was established to help the next generation of fashion designers in the US.
The 44-year-old fashion star got involved in the project through Fashion Trust US founder Tania Fares. Both Roach and Fares have worked at British Vogue as West Coast editor and contributing editor respectively.
During the show, Roach was on hand to present FTUS’ graduate award to New York-based Ghanaian designer Papa Oppong. The young designer also won a grant and a professional mentorship program courtesy of Google.
