No one likes dealing with the DMV; in fact, even those working at the DMV don’t like the DMV. At least, that’s what some believe when a worker gave a California truck owner two mismatched license plates for their vehicle. First, the individual was sent plates in the mail, but they were carelessly damaged. The paint was missing, the numbers off-centered, and both were badly scratched up. The DMV ended up replacing the truck owner’s plates again, but this time, the numbers were in numerical sequence instead of being the same. How does this even happen?
“Uggggh, now I have to go back and make another appointment,” groans the California resident. For those perhaps unaware, California law requires both registered plates to be put on the vehicle. So the fact that DMV staff gave this truck owner non-matching plates shows just how much they care about their job or how lazy they are. The victim of the mismatched plates posted their annoyance to Reddit, and many users shared a similar gripe with the department. “Employees at the DMV are only eligible for promotion if they meet a monthly quota of f**king with customers in the smallest, most creative ways,” remarks one person, with thousands upvoting in agreement.
One person tried to lighten the mood with a cheeky comment. “Maybe someone out there also got the same set, maybe they see your post, and maybe you can trade to each have a matching set,” they joked. Others added to the discussion by sharing their personal complaints, from the DMV making one person a year older on their driver’s license to another’s height being listed as “1’ 8” tall.”
“Whoever did this needs to go straight to jail. Oh wait, they’re already there…” quipped a Redditor. For those not in the know, “the majority of plates are still made in prisons in the USA,” as one person puts it. It is different state-by-state, though. Still, whether it’s a plate manufacturing company or an inmate, the DMV should be double-checking the plates it hands out, at the very least. Everyone will likely agree to that.
