A woman in Little Rock, Arkansas, has netizens debating whether her reaction was justified after she complained in a video on TikTok about a man who had been persistently trying to get her attention, only for things to take a turn when she actually needed his help.
The woman explained that the man had first reached out to her on Instagram and had even contacted her friends to put in a good word for him. Although she ignored him in the beginning and never responded to his messages, she eventually decided to give him a chance and speak with him.
Following their first interaction, which she described as him being overly eager and not her type, she quickly lost interest. Still, according to her, the man continued trying to pursue her.
The Incident That Led to the Fallout
The woman said she was later involved in a minor accident in a Walgreens parking lot, which damaged the rear bumper of her car and left her needing repairs. Knowing that he worked on cars, she reached out and asked him to come take a look at the damage.
According to her, the man showed up, inspected the car, and told her he would follow up after checking the cost of parts. When he got back to her the next day, however, the situation shifted in a way she did not expect.
Instead of offering to help her in a more personal way, the man reportedly quoted her $500 to fix the damage. That response, she said, did not sit well with her, especially considering that he had been actively trying to pursue her. She explained that in her view, someone trying to build that kind of connection with her would not be charging her that amount. “Why would you feel like you can take me on a date and I can ride with you and I can hang with you, but you charge me $500 to fix my car,” she said in the video.
The man, however, defended the price, telling her it was already a discount and that she would have been charged more elsewhere. The woman disagreed, saying she had already asked around and had received lower quotes from other people.
At that point, she decided not to go through with it at all. Instead, she paid someone else to fix her car and blocked him. She also claimed that after the exchange, the man started reaching out to her friends to complain about how she handled the situation.
What Netizens Are Saying About the Arkansas Woman’s Story
In the comments under her post, many people did not agree with her reasoning and felt she was expecting too much from someone she was not in a relationship with. “Y should I spend my $500 an labor on someone that not into me [sic],” one commenter said. Another asked, “So you wanted him fix it for free?” A third wrote, “Naw queen you trippin, just because he likes you he has to compromise his business principles.” A fourth added harshly, “Leave that man alone.”
Another comment that stood out read, “Mind you they haven’t even been on a date 😭😭😭,” highlighting what many saw as the main issue.
Meanwhile, some netizens did support the woman, with one person writing, “You handled it perfectly honestly!” and another suggesting, “He could’ve at least said half.”
