The world of sitcoms has been hit with yet another tragedy. Weeks after the passing of George Wendt, another legendary actor who brought smiles to many faces has passed away. Loretta Swit, better known for playing the role of Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan in M*A*S*H, died at the age of 87. Besides her work in the aforementioned series, she was part of many TV shows and had a long career in the world of entertainment. Still, everyone will remember her for her amazing work as a sitcom actress, which earned her two well-known awards.

Loretta Swit Found Dead by Her Maid

Loretta Swit was found dead today by her maid, according to TMZ. So far, the authorities have not unveiled the cause of death, but it seems there was no foul play involved, and instead, she passed from natural causes.

Many will remember her from portraying Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan in M*A*S*H. She got two Emmy Awards for playing this role, and after the long-running show ended, she went on to work on several projects across the TV landscape. Still, everyone will remember her from the 1972 sitcom, which, to this day, its finale holds the world record of the most-viewed scripted TV episode. Besides M*A*S*H, she worked in shows like Hawaii Five-O, Pyramid, and Match Game, among others.

Right now, Swit’s family has not mentioned anything to the media, still leaving the causes of her passing a mystery. However, there were no indications of any underlying health conditions or anything alarming. She died inside her NYC apartment.
