As a kid growing up in the 80s and 90s, the Ghostbusters and their Ecto-1 were everywhere. We had 2 movies, as well as a pretty great animated series. All every child wanted under their tree each Christmas was the latest set of toys inspired by the franchise. I should know, they were always on my list to Santa, and I’m still proud of my firehouse HQ.
Thankfully, with the upcoming release of Ghostbusters Afterlife, it seems as though a new generation will be able to experience the Ghostbusters excitement that we had back in the day. Assuming the movie is as great as it seems of course. Unfortunately, the new movie has been pushed back until June 11, 2021. That doesn’t mean that the hype train can’t start already, and it looks as though Lego is on board to deliver. The Lego team has released a rather impressive set based on the Ecto-1 vehicle.
Available from today, the Ghostbusters Afterlife Ecto-1 looks absolutely stunning. Just see for yourselves.
Coming in at an eyewatering 2352 pieces, the Ghostbusters Ecto-1 is not for the faint-hearted. Based on the classic 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor Ambulance, complete with rust, the Ecto-1 features working steering, a rear gunner seat, and a host of other nice touches. You can see more images of this behemoth over on the Lego site.
As great as it is, the set also isn’t cheap, coming in at an astounding $199.99. Should that not put you off I would be extremely jealous, and would also demand that you post pictures of your completed build over on our Twitter page. Be sure to let me know your thoughts on this set as well as the upcoming movie in the comments.
Ghostbusters Afterlife will release next June and will feature the returning cast of Sigourney Weaver, Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, and Ernie Hudson, alongside newcomers Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, and Finn Wolfhard.
