Capcom has been on fire lately, and by the looks of it, there aren’t any signs of the company slowing down. The first and among the biggest reveals we got during Summer Game Fest was none other than Resident Evil Veronica, the long-awaited remake of the 2000 classic. Even if we didn’t get gameplay footage, we got a terrifying trailer showing one of our favorite Redfields, as she makes her way into one of the most iconic Resident Evil adventures Capcom has created.
Resident Evil Veronica Launches in 2027
Capcom was the first to open Summer Game Fest, and it did with one of the most mind-blowing reveals of the show: Resident Evil Veronica. As many of you know, Capcom has been doing its remake treatment on several iconic games of the series, and after the success of Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4, we knew it was a matter of time until we got Code Veronica in all its RE Engine glory.
Some details of this remake are still a bit scarce, but what we were able to confirm just by looking at the trailer is that Claire Redfield is back and taking the protagonist mantle, and we also got to see some iconic locations from the original game. We got a look at Rockfort Island, what seems to be Chris’s apartment, and a few others that fans of the series likely spotted already. Of course, we also saw some of the enemies we’ll be fighting, and judging by this quick clip, we’re in for one scary ride.
On top of that, we got confirmation that Resident Evil Veronica will launch in 2027. The exact date is still unknown, but many believe that it might be at the beginning of the year, just like Resident Evil Requiem. On top of that, Capcom has been at the top spot when it comes to new releases, launching several highly acclaimed titles. Just this year alone, we got Requiem, Pragmata, Monster Hunter Stories 3, and we already know that Onimusha: Way of the Sword is coming in a couple of months. Capcom’s track record has been immaculate, and we think it will be the same for Veronica.
Also, beyond this announcement, we got the reveal of the next Monster Hunter Wilds expansion called Ascendance, as well as Year 4 for Street Fighter 6, featuring four new fighters, including Tifa from Final Fantasy 7.
Overall, it is a great time to be a fan of Capcom games, and we’re just glad we’re getting another Resident Evil game, especially after the amazing addition that Requiem was to the series.
