Liam Neeson is a pretty versatile actor. He’s probably best known for his roles in action movies like The Grey, the Star Wars prequels, and Taken, but he’s also shown dramatic ability and comedy chops. Plus, a quick perusal of his IMDb page indicates that he was in Krull. I certainly didn’t know that. Neeson is the latest actor in talks to join the cast of the unnamed Men in Black sequel, a film where all his action/drama/comedy/Krull experience will come in handy.
Variety reports that, if he joins the production, Neeson would play the head of the UK Men in Black branch. Rip Torn played the head of the US branch in the previous three films. The Men in Black films focus on a team of highly trained agents that keep track of and, if necessary, battle alien life on Earth. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones starred in the first three films as Men in Black agents.
It is unknown if Smith or Jones would play any role in the upcoming film, which is scheduled to release in 2019. Few details are known about the plot, but it is set in the same timeline as the original trilogy and Chris Hemsworth (The Avengers) and Tessa Thompson (Creed, Westworld) are currently tied to the project. Those two already appeared together as Thor and Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok.
The upcoming Men in Black film will be directed by F. Gary Gray, who previously directed films such as Straight Outta Compton and Fate of the Furious. Steven Spielberg will serve as an executive producer.
What do you think? Excited to see Liam Neeson dressed in the snappy suit and shades of the Men in Black? Maybe he’ll bring Krull’s Glaive with him? Let us know in the comments below, and stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
