Neowiz’s Round 8 Studio, best known for Lies of P, is gearing up for an exciting year with DLC and a new game announcement. The studio is currently working on a DLC for the gritty folklore-inspired game next year. It’s also planning for a brand-new sci-fi survival horror project targeting PC and console releases. The release window and title are still being kept secret, but fans have some theories on where it would go.
The Korean media Ebn.co.kr via Google Translate wrote that the Lies of P DLC is set to launch in the first quarter of 2025. Meanwhile, the upcoming game is described as a ‘survival horror project set in a sci-fi world’ and will be powered by Unreal Engine 5. Round 8 is actively recruiting talent to bring this vision, and other games on its current pipeline, to life. Names dropped include Seungho Jin, developer of Buried Stars pop idol-themed visual novel, and Sanggyun Lee, developer of action MMO Mabinogi Heroes.
According to the report, an insider claimed that it will ‘reinvent the [sci-fi] survival horror genre.’ The source also said that Round 8 might need to ‘adjust the development period’ to secure additional income. While specifics about the project remain under wraps, the studio has made comparisons to genre staples like Dead Space and The Callisto Protocol.
Fans are already speculating that either the DLC or new game will feature Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, given the post-credits tease. Nevertheless, the studio has yet to confirm the connection between projects or whether the upcoming sci-fi game is even related to Lies of P.
The game sold over 2 million copies, attracted 7 million Game Pass players and highlighted Korean console developers alongside Stellar Blade. Neowiz sees this project as critical not only for their growth but also for showcasing the global potential of Korean as AAA developers.
