Lightforge Games, a new studio, is born that is going to focus on RPGs. Behind the helm of the studio are some industry greats from both Blizzard and Epic Games. The students intend to bring in a new era of RPGs, completely changing the way of the games.
Lightforge Games has already revealed little nuggets of information about what they are working on. The project currently in development is an RPG which, according to them, is going to give the players unprecedented freedom. It will be a cross-platform game where the players can build their own worlds with an emphasis on social interaction.
Going off of the brave statements the developers of the studio have stated, the RPG in the works seems to be a mix of Minecraft, Roblox, and other such games.
Matt Schembari, the former UI director of Epic Games, is the founder of Lightforge Games. He has an array of amazing people working with him, and their experiences are in Fortnite, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Overwatch, Elder Scrolls: Online, and World Of Warcraft.
Matt Schembari has released further statements about their goals with the company. His words act as a confirmation on how they would be focusing primarily on the social interaction side of things. He is looking for games that the player can completely control, giving them full access to everything and anything while allowing them to mix with the community.
This new independent studio has earned a whopping 5 million dollars in investment money from all over. one notable investor is Dreamhaven, a similar indie publisher and developer founded by an ex-employee of Blizzard.
It is not surprising to see people taking notice of the company. It is not just the very intriguing project underworks; the entire studio itself has heaps of potential, and we really could be looking at a new era of RPGs.
