A Dennis Rodman movie is coming soon from Lionsgate. According to a report on Deadline, the film will showcase Dennis Rodman’s infamous 48-hour bender in Las Vegas that took place during the 1998 NBA finals. It will ultimately focus on the fun and friendship between Rodman and his assistant GM.
The movie is being produced by Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Aditya Sood. Executive producers include Ari Lubet, Will Allegra, and Rodman himself. The script for the Dennis Rodman movie was written by Jordan VanDina.
The President of Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group, Nathan Kahane, shared his excitement for the film, stating:
There’s only one Dennis Rodman. In 1998, there was nobody on Earth who’d be more fun — or maybe more dangerous — to party with. And yet that’s not even half of who he is. This movie takes you on an unforgettable ride with the myth, the legend, and also the man that Dennis is, behind everything you think you know.
For years, the story inspiring this Dennis Rodman movie was nothing more than a rumor. However, NBA fans finally learned the truth in the 2020 documentary, The Last Dance. Though the documentary focused primarily on Michael Jordan and his years with Rodman on the Chicago Bulls, it finally shared concrete details and testimony from Jordan, coach Phil Jackson, and more on Rodman’s once rumored bender.
Thankfully, the Dennis Rodman bender movie will be in good hands with Phil Lord and Chris Miller. The duo recently produced the animated Netflix movie, The Mitchells vs. The Machines. However, they have also been involved in several other successful and funny films, including Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, 21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street, and The Lego Movie.
