Lisa Barlow, star of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, found herself at the center of a viral moment after Ben Affleck denied ever meeting her, despite her claim that a work obligation with him kept her from filming parts of Season 6. The exchange has sparked amusement and debate among fans.
Ben Affleck’s Polite Denial Stuns Fans
Affleck was put on the spot during an Access Hollywood interview promoting The Rip alongside Matt Damon. “It’s ‘Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.’ Cast member Lisa Barlow is saying that she was with you at an event with her husband and she wasn’t able to film. The cast members don’t believe her. So the question is, do you know who Lisa Barlow is?” the interviewer asked.
Affleck responded with confusion but maintained a polite distance:
“I don’t want to embarrass her because, I say hi to a lot of people, I don’t want to be the jerk who is like, I did meet you… You don’t remember everyone you meet.” He added, “I don’t think I’m qualified to weigh in on this, whatever this raging controversy is.”
While Affleck suggested it was unlikely he met Barlow, he left a sliver of possibility open, citing the sheer number of people he encounters at events. “It doesn’t look familiar to me and I don’t remember anything,” he admitted, adding that he hasn’t been to Utah in nearly a decade.
Barlow Fires Back
Barlow quickly returned with receipts. She clarified that the supposed meeting occurred at the SXSW festival during the premiere of Affleck’s The Accountant 2. On Instagram, she wrote, “SXSW [for] The Accountant 2… and it was a great movie and party,” sharing TikTok clips of her SXSW experience, including Affleck on the red carpet.
In Season 6, Barlow had cited her business obligations involving Affleck and Blake Lively as a reason for skipping a cast trip with Angie Katsanevas, adding, “I think what people forget is I have a very full life because I keep it kinda private. And, like, I’m not gonna drop names, but like, I’ll be with Ben and Blake [Lively].”
Social media users were quick to weigh in. One quipped, “Lisa needed to be humbled like this 😂,” while another added, “He was being very polite, but it’s pretty clear – he has no idea who Lisa is.” Others called it hilarious and essential reporting: “This is the journalism I needed today – and everyday.
