Jennifer Lopez’s This Is Me… Now may have received more attention for which celebrities didn’t appear in the film than who actually did. Although the project featured a stacked cast that included everyone from Post Malone and Keke Palmer to Sofia Vergara and Trevor Noah, so many other huge stars were offered roles that were ultimately turned down. Lopez’s team claimed Lizzo was among those who passed on the opportunity. However, the “Truth Hurts” singer has since denied she was ever even approached about the film.
Lizzo Breaks Silence On Jennifer Lopez Casting Controversy
Lizzo addressed the casting controversy by reacting to a viral clip from the film’s behind-the-scenes documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told, on TikTok. In the scene, a member of Lopez’s team reads off a list of celebrity names that were asked to make cameos in This Is Me… Now but were too busy for the project. Apparently, Lizzo was part of the group that claimed they were “unavailable.” However, the singer said she didn’t even know about the film.
Ain’t nobody told me nothing. Nobody asked me.
Lizzo
Someone on Lizzo’s team had likely turned down the offer for her. After all, Lizzo did have a hectic year last year, so she was probably too busy to do the cameo even if she would have wanted to. The star traveled around the world on her Special tour from February to July 2023. Then, in August, Lizzo got caught up in a major controversy when three of her former backup dancers filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against her.
Although the collaboration between Lizzo and Lopez couldn’t work out this time around, it’s possible the two could team up for a different project later down the line. The “About Damn Time” singer told Lopez on TikTok that she still has a lot of “love” for her despite the miscommunication issue.
