ICE agents are some of the most dangerous people you could run into out there. It isn’t just illegal immigrants who have to be wary of them, since it’s widely known that they’re more than willing to arrest American citizens as well. To make matters worse, they thrive on intimidation, throwing their weight around with an inflated sense of authority. If you want proof of just how corrupt and reckless these ICE agents can be, you only need to look at the video that was recently shared on Reddit. The incident reportedly took place in Logan Square, Chicago, Illinois.
According to accounts, ICE agents were riding near a Hispanic grocery store when things quickly spiraled out of control. The cameraman, who was simply on his way to pick up his kid from school, witnessed what happened and decided to record it. At the beginning of the footage, you can see a white car driven by ICE agents being stopped in the street by a motorcyclist. Whether the biker intentionally blocked them is unclear, but what is clear is that the ICE agents decided their response would be to launch tear gas into the road.
Panic broke out instantly. Screams echoed through the street as bystanders scrambled, nearly caught in the clouds of gas. Yet despite the chaos, the biker refused to move, stubbornly holding his ground against the ICE vehicle. Many who saw the video online were outraged at the unnecessary escalation. There was no visible threat or violence, yet the ICE agents resorted to chemical weapons in the middle of a public street. Innocent passersby, including parents and children, were also hit.
“ICE using tactics like this in Chicago feels like pure intimidation. No one asked for this in our streets,” one user wrote. Another commenter called them “masked terrorists posing as law enforcement,” condemning their use of tear gas against civilians.
Others mocked the agents for failing to clear the biker despite all their aggression. “Hilariously, it looks like they cleared out everyone around except the motorbike,” one person noted. Some also pointed out the absurdity of the ICE agents gassing themselves in the process. Clouds of tear gas swirled so wildly that even with the windows closed, some would almost certainly seep into the car. As one Redditor quipped, “I’m dubious that the cabin air filter in their rental Chevy SUV or whatever is going to filter that out… it’s probably blowing right in their stupid faces.”
