According to Marvel, Loki will be receiving a spin-off from The War of the Realms comic series. In the new series, Loki will be on his own and facing new challenges. We see him on the cover on what looks to be a bridge and tossing Thor’s hammer around like it’s no big deal.
(Spoilers ahead for The War of the Realms)
Although Loki met his end in The War of the Realms, it shouldn’t be a shock to see the character make a grand return. This is the God of Mischief after all. Here’s a brief synopsis for the Loki comic spin-off from the Marvel article:
“After dying a grisly death in WAR OF THE REALMS, Loki learned a valuable lesson in warmongering: Don’t get caught. But now he has a whole new set of responsibilities—and his brother Thor is not about to let him walk away from them this time.”
The new series will be written by Daniel Kibblesmith accompanied by artist Oscar Bazaldua. Marvel has used both Kibblesmith and Bazaldua for numerous projects over the years. Though they have never worked together. Bazaldua’s latest project was Mr. & Mrs. X and Kibblesmith’s was Black Panther vs. Deadpool. So the duo has some extraordinary talent. The new team will surely bring pride and dare I say some mischief to the new Loki series this July.
Loki’s comic announcement is no surprise as Marvel seems to be all-in on the character right now. The trickster recently got a new TV show that would premiere on Disney+. Disney+ has swept fans away with their announcements from Loki’s solo series to The Mandalorian.
