Finding love in the US and in the nation’s capital is tough enough, but for Donald Trump supporters, it’s turning into a political nightmare. That’s because some singles with MAGA beliefs say they’re struggling to find partners in Washington DC, leading to heartbreaks, disappointment, and loneliness– conditions which are not conducive to creating traditional conservative, pro-life, Christian families with a tradwife and an “alpha” male, supposedly.
The report came from the Washington Post, which published a case study for the lonely men and women of MAGA leanings or Republicans who support Donald Trump. This case study was in partnership with Exclusive Matchmaking, and the conservative respondents mostly had the same woe: they can’t find anyone to like or love them, not in Washington DC. One of them, a woman, even shared a peculiar finding:
“I felt like, being in conservative politics, there would be more, like, masculine men in the conservative movement, and I find that a lot of them aren’t as masculine as I would have hoped,” according to 29-year-old Morgan Housley, transcript courtesy of The Washington Post.
It appears Housley, who moved into the capital for her job, had no trouble finding “conservative” men, but they simply don’t meet her conservative standards as she’s looking for someone who “loved the Lord” and can “provide and protect, emotionally, physically, spiritually, all of those things.” Apparently, Catholics who don’t actively attend church don’t count as Christians for her.
Another case, an anonymous Republican staffer, has no qualms about dating someone who isn’t conservative or right-wing, but she admits it’s been difficult, especially if the potential partner is a liberal who might see her as a fascist, even though she admits she isn’t and will never be one.
“There’s a lot of talk around the word ‘fascism’ and people on the left calling people on the right ‘fascists’ and ‘Nazis.’ I think if somebody genuinely thought that, they probably wouldn’t want to date me anyways, but like, that’s a red flag, because then you think that I’m that, which I’m not, whatsoever, and never will be. But I mean, my partner can’t think I’m a fascist. That’s crazy,” says the MAGA Republican
Meanwhile, Exclusive Matchmaking’s CEO, Susan Trombetti, has claimed that Washington DC’s dating scene is a political minefield, thanks in part to who’s in the current administration despite the whole city voting 92.5 percent in favor of Kamala Harris back in 2024. Young Trump administration staffers might have to endure their loneliness on the job for the time being.
ICE and Young Republicans Members Paint a Clearer Picture
Those who have been tuning in to ICE’s recruitment difficulties and the Young Republicans scandal about open neo-Nazism might not be surprised at all by The Washington Post’s dating scene findings for the US capital. The bulk of ICE agent applicants in Georgia, for example, can’t pass basic fitness tests, which doesn’t exactly paint a picture of masculinity for a political leaning where masculinity is supposedly crucial.
Meanwhile, the Young Republicans’ recent debacle outed the group as a staging point for fascism, where the leaders and members openly discussed racism and Nazi ideologies. It’s worth noting, however, that the Young Republicans were condemned by their fellow Republicans (the older ones). Regardless, people online have an explanation as to why the MAGA women in Washington DC found the MAGA men wanting.
“Stands to reason. MAGA as an ideology only appeals small, insecure men with something to prove. Course this lady as a conservative deserves to end up with a man like that,” says a Reddit commenter. Another further expounds it, “Add that to the large number of ‘alphas’ that are flunking open-book-testing, just-hire-someone-with-a-pulse ICE hiring standards, and we’re getting to see the real, unvarnished, MAGA male specimen.”
