Drama is brewing between Lorde and Kacy Hill. Over the weekend, the “Frog Rinse” singer posted a TikTok appearing to shade Lorde and Jim-E Stack’s rumored romance, implying that they may have gotten together while Stack was still dating Hill. The situation has given fans deja vu, considering this isn’t the first time Lorde has been accused of getting in between a relationship.
Kacy Hill TikTok Goes Viral
Over the weekend, Kacy Hill posted a video of herself set to Lorde’s new single “Man of the Year” from her fourth studio album, Virgin. “Let’s hear it for the man of the year,” Lorde sings in the audio clip as Hill sarcastically claps and side-eyes the camera. Alongside her TikTok, Hill included a caption seemingly calling out her ex-boyfriend, Jim-E Stack, for leaving her for Lorde. “Letโs hear if for the man who ended a 6.5 year relationship while making a girlโs album then started dating her,” she wrote.
Their breakup may have initially upset her. However, Hill has come to realize it was actually a blessing in disguise because it taught her a valuable lesson. “Ill never accept crumbs from a man ever again,” she said.
While Kacy Hill didn’t explicitly confirm that her TikTok was about Lorde and Jim-E Stack, the use of the New Zealand star’s song was enough to convince fans that it was aimed at the pair. After all, everything lines up.
Lorde and Jim-E Stack Drama Reminds Fans of the Singer and Jack Antonoff
According to Vulture, Kacy Hill and Jim-E Stack were previously dating. During their nearly seven-year-long relationship, Stack helped produce three of Hill’s albums. After working with Hill for the last time on Bug in 2024, Stack went on to produce Lorde’s Virgin album. The record just dropped on Friday, June 27. That same day, Hill posted her TikTok. It quickly went viral on social media, accumulating nearly three million views and thousands of comments.
Interestingly, many of the replies are from fans who aren’t surprised that Lorde is caught up in a love triangle. A similar situation happened years ago with her previous producer, Jack Antonoff and his ex-girlfriend, Lena Dunham. “Lorde really loves a producer with a girlfriend, huh,” someone wrote. “Lorde always at the scene of the crime,” read another comment.
The producer and actress dated from 2012 to 2018. After their breakup, Antonoff sparked dating rumors with Lorde. Since they worked together on her 2017 album, Melodrama, fans accused her and Antonoff of cheating.
The rumors became so widespread that Dunham decided to confront Antonoff about them. In a November 2018 interview with The Cut, the Girls star said that Antonoff denied cheating on her. Although she doesn’t think “anything happened” between him and Lorde, she admitted the situation made her feel “awful” since she’ll never know the truth about their relationship. She can only trust that her ex-boyfriend was being honest with her.
Following the release of Melodrama, Lorde and Antonoff collaborated on one more album before she opted to work with Jim-E Stack on Virgin.
