Gasps filled the air as a simple argument in a store in Los Angeles took a fast turn. The incident occurred at a Foodless Store in Signal Hill between two shoppers. During the squabble, one of the pair unexpectedly brandished a knife. However, his opponent did not take it lightly as he pulled out a gun, leaving onlookers in shock.
The clip posted on Reddit displayed two men who were shopping at the store, heatedly exchanging words. While one of the men was older and taller, the other was short and appeared in his early thirties. The video opened with the duo exchanging words, with the shorter man spewing curse words.
The younger male customer explained that he was trying to help the other man. “I saw a receipt on the ground, and I handed it to you,” he yelled at the older man before adding obscenities. In a fit of anger, he slapped the hat off the older gentleman, who retaliated by throwing his fist at the shorter man.
The two were at each other in no time, their fists aimed at throwing punches. While the pair advanced at one another, the older man abruptly pulled out a knife from his pocket. This prompted the shorter man to pull a gun from his pocket.
At the sight of the gun, onlookers at the store screamed, shocked at how the minor argument had become serious. Meanwhile, the younger man, who was now armed with a firearm, waved it to his opponent, yelling, “Stay the f**k away from me!”
The video stirred several reactions and arguments from Reddit users who tried to pinpoint the main aggressor in the fight. One user believed that the shorter man instigated the fight because he was “thirsty for an opportunity to pull out the gun.” Another user agreed to the same belief.
A third internet user shared a similar opinion that the gunman was the troublemaker.
“Generally speaking, if dude shot the guy with the knife, the guy with the gun can’t claim self-defense because he would be considered the aggressor because of flipping the hat off.”
More thoughts poured in on the incident between the duo at the store. One user suggested pulling out the knife because he didn’t stand a chance against the younger man.
“When you are that old, some juiced up a**hole could easily put you in the hospital and in coma with a single punch,” the comment argued. “I think it was reasonable to take out the knife.”
One netizen, however, took sides with the young man. “The dude pulled out his knife and took it to the next level. He’d probably be justified in shooting him legally, but morally and ethically would be wrong as f**k,” the user penned. Another Redditor countered the point, writing, “Dude hit his hat off, then followed him. Good luck claiming self-defense on that one if it went there.”
While Reddit users continue to decipher who started the fight, there were no reports of injuries from the scene. The things one sees every day in Los Angeles!
