A heated Pokemon Trainer Battle went down in a Los Angeles Costco as two Californian men took Pokemon TCG’s PvP a little too seriously. The scene was already chaotic enough, with dozens of shoppers filling their shopping carts and arms with as many booster pack boxes as they could. However, two men got caught up in a ‘Super Smash Brawl,’ as one clutched the other’s waist while the second tightly grasped his Blooming Waters Premium Collection.
“I picked a bad time to join this hobby…” commented Canadian YouTuber Disguised Toast, posting the Costco duel on X. In the clip, the Los Angeles shopper wearing the cap elbows the one in the green jacket directly in the face. Nevertheless, the victim of the elbow strike seemed unfazed, as he still held onto the attacker for dear life. Violence is never the answer when it comes to something as trifling as Pokemon TCG cards. However, many followers of this news on social media seemed more entertained than concerned.
“This is the world I want to live in. Fighting over Pokémon instead of drugs,” reads a reply to the post. “Gotta catch these hands,” jokes a Reddit user on r/offbeat. “Why don’t they just play each other in the actual TCG game? Winner takes the pot,” chimes in another. Numerous users found the brawl hilarious, commenting “Lmao,” while others cringed in second-hand embarrassment, collectively agreeing that such an incident “is why we can’t have nice things.”
Unfortunately, elbowing the face of the individual in the green jacket wasn’t the only violent act the shopper in the cap committed in the name of Pokemon booster cards. X user @Bombadilla4000 posted another clip showing the same culprit viciously shoving other shoppers down to get the Scarlet and Violet Premium Collections.
Costco has caught wind of the incident and has since enforced a “1 unit per membership per day” policy, per the New York Post. Thank God.
