How ironic it must be that the ones supposed to uphold the rules are the first ones to break them, with little to no remorse. In a recent video on Reddit, a user shared how a police officer in Los Angeles was caught littering on camera. Apparently, the cops were waiting for a cleaning crew, so that “justified” the officer throwing his gloves in the street. Fortunately, the person behind the video called them out in the best possible way.
As shared by user I_may_have_weed on the r/PublicFreakout Subreddit, we can see a Los Angeles police officer littering. The one behind the video seems to be talking normally to the officers when one of them throws a couple of gloves into a bush. The one filming quickly responds with, “You just littered, sir.” The cop responds with, “Did you mind your own business?” Soon after, the other police officer, who later claims is in charge of the one who littered, says, “We got a cleaning crew who’s gonna come and clean all up.” Trying to justify the cop’s actions.
The person recording starts asking for the officer’s badge number and card, but the supposedly higher-ranking officer tries to hand his. Yet, the man stands his ground and continues to ask for information from the other cop. Quickly, the one who littered picks up the gloves he threw away in an angry way, turns to the camera, infuriated, and says, “You got too much time on your hands. You know that?”
The surprising part about this is how the officer in charge does not acknowledge the other cop’s mistakes. He claims the cop did nothing wrong. Finally, the one filming claims that, if he did, he’d have a $1,000 fine, alluding to the fact that the police officer was able to litter a street in Los Angeles without any consequence whatsoever.
Many people went on to share their thoughts on the matter, which, to be fair, we agree with them.
It is sad that those who should be setting the example don’t do so in public. Yet, the shocking thing is how they don’t even agree on their wrongdoing. The first police officer for littering and the other one for trying to cover it up. Fortunately, it is all on camera, so let’s hope these officers think twice before littering the streets again.
