There are hundreds of Quests that you can find and have to complete in Lost Ark. However, while most are rather straightforward, some are mind-bending and not in a good way, either because of misleading objectives or forcing you to do pixel hunting to clear it. One such Quest is the “A Nose for News,” which is, unfortunately, a part of the Main Quests. Here’s a quick guide on how you can complete the “A Nose for News” Quest in Lost Ark.

  1. To trigger the “A Nose for News” Quest, you need to speak with the Hoyte News Editor-in-Chief Phillan Kaiman in Origins of Stern, the capital of Arthetine.
  2. Afterward, meet with Reporter Mathias. You will be asked to investigate something called the Technologist, pick the “Of course!” option.
  3. Now head to the Nebelhorn Lab in Nebelhorn to meet with Lab Director Yulia. Apparently, there are some anomalies in the Nebelhorn Oasis.
  4. Travel to three markers (indicated by red markers in the map above) in the northern part of Nebelhorn and investigate those areas. A pretty easy fetch quest so far.
  5. However, now comes the tricky part. Using the Magick Flow Detector, you need to follow the traces of anomalies and reveal a suspicious presence.
  6. Head to the north most part of Nebelhorn:
    1. For the first clue, go to the spot indicated by the green marker in the map above.
    2. Next to the bone piles near the cacti, use the Magick Flow Detector. Scan it until the “Follow the suspicious presence” pop-up… pops up on the screen.
    3. For the second clue (the hardest one to find), head to the white marker in the map above.
    4. It’s in another bone pile near cacti. Use the scanner in the shadowed area, for some reason it works the best there. Also, there’s no message to indicate you scanned the right spot, so it is very frustrating.
    5. The third and final clue, indicated by the blue marker, is in the corner of the map, near a waterfall. Scan it again.
  7. If you did everything properly (and it should be), then the suspicious presence will reveal itself as Suspicious Tech Branch Employee. Threaten him up a bit using the Interrogate emote (
    /interrogate).
  8. Now head back to Lab Director Yulia in Nebelhorn Lab to report your findings.
  9. Then call Reporter Mathias using the Communicator in the Lab.
  10. To complete the “A Nose for News” Quest, go back to Origins of Stern and speak to Sasha in the northern area of the Town Hall.

Quest Rewards:

  • 290 Roster XP
  • 1,080 Silver
  • Splendid Destruction Stone Fragment Chest 6x
  • Lavish Guardian Stone Fragment Chest 2x
  • Splendid Shard Chest (M) 4x
