Ultizero Games has released a new trailer for Lost Soul Aside, which announces the game’s upcoming release in 2025. The project initially drew the internet’s attention over eight years ago due to its similarities with Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Yang Bing was inspired by the series and wanted to make his own action game. The project even got the attention of Sony, which funded and supported the Chinese developer. However, after this lengthy wait, are there still people who are interested?

Lost Soul Aside seems to have been in development around ten years ago, but the project drew the internet’s attention when Yang Bing released a five-minute HD trailer on YouTube. Many gamers hyped up the game due to its excellent graphics that rivaled the Final Fantasy series and combat akin to Devil May Cry. At this point, Yang Bing was the only one who worked on this passion project.

Not long after this viral moment, Sony saw the potential in this game and decided to support and fund Yang Bing. The man decided to use the money to establish his own studio, Ultizero Games, in 2017. The company has grown over the years and currently employs around 40 people who work on Lost Soul Aside.

Eight years passed before another big trailer finally dropped. The video features a new female character who seems to be the love interest of our brooding protagonist. You can also see some combat scenes where the hero fights ice monsters. There is no dialogue, and the trailer announces that Lost Soul Aside will be available on PlayStation 5 and PC.

After years of waiting, it seems that many people have moved on from this passion project. Some fans even commented that they’ve completely forgotten Lost Soul Aside. While there are still those who are excited about the game’s release, the reception is definitely not comparable to back then. Of course, with the release date being announced, hopefully, the studio will increase its marketing to draw more attention to this project.

Based on the new trailer, Lost Soul Aside seems to be a rather contained and compact experience like Devil May Cry 3. While the game is inspired by the Final Fantasy series, it doesn’t seem like it will feature the expansive story that JRPGs are known for. We will need to wait and see how this passion project will turn out.
