Louisiana U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy Under Fire After Criticizing Trump: ‘Amazing how they all speak out once they lose power’

Is he against Trump now?

U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy recently criticized the Trump administration on X over a deal being negotiated with Iran to end the conflict. The criticism did not sit well with many voters, however, as some argued that the Senator from Louisiana was only attacking Trump after losing in the primaries for his reelection.

Reagan is rolling over in his grave. Iran’s nuclear ambitions were not curbed, and they have learned that threatening the Strait of Hormuz works and will undoubtedly leverage it in the future. Now, Iran gets to build brand-new infrastructure under this deal.

Before the war, the…

On X, Cassidy said that “Reagan is rolling over in his grave” and argued that the U.S. government had failed to curb Iran’s nuclear ambitions. He also expressed concern that the Strait of Hormuz could be used as leverage in the future and that Iran would be able to build new infrastructure after the war.

Cassidy further argued that American service members were lost and that families suffered due to rising prices. The Senator also claimed that this was the “worst foreign policy blunder in decades,” criticizing Trump for the war.

Louisiana Residents Criticize Louisiana’s Bill Cassidy

Reactions on X were very negative after Bill Cassidy made his statements, as many described this as a knee-jerk reaction against Republicans after losing the primaries to Julia Letlow, who gained Trump’s endorsement. A seemingly Republican-aligned voter responded: “Reagan would have stopped Iran’s nuclear program, just as Trump has done. You sided with Democrats and against America’s national security interests.”

One user was very harsh when talking about the deal that ended the conflict: “Iran won. Not on the battlefield. On the balance sheet. They closed the Strait. They survived the bombing. They kept their regime. They got sanctions relief, cash, and a reconstruction fund. The US lost 13 service members, spent billions, and ended up right where we started, except now Iran knows the Strait is their nuclear option. That’s not a deal.”

On other social media platforms such as Reddit’s r/Louisiana, users also criticized Cassidy, albeit from other political perspectives. One of them said, “He had a chance to stop this nonsense. I would say he chickened out, but chickens are much braver than this man.”

Someone else added: “Amazing how they all speak out once they lose power and their gravy train ends.” Another Reddit user explained the outrage: “This will not earn my respect. If anything, it will only prompt deeper scorn. Because he probably believed this the whole time but was too cowardly to say it. For the next sycophant to wind up losing, just go away. You had the chance.”

In any case, it remains to be seen how Cassidy’s statements will affect his political future in Louisiana, as he remains a member of the Republican Party.
