A Crabfest celebration in Cameron, Louisiana, grew tense and violent after a woman decided to dip her hands and feet in the nearby swamp water. Unluckily for the Louisiana woman, an alligator was present in the water she kept splashing, hence, the disturbed reptile gave off a rather painful warning and bit the woman’s arm.

The incident was uploaded to Instagram by one of the companions of the woman named Rachel Ann Marie. Apparently, Rachel and her friends or family were attending the Crabfest 2025 in the region, and it appears the woman decided to wash off the seafood stench from her hands, or perhaps just a quick rinse for whatever reason, and saw a nearby swamp water as the most convenient place for that.

It was a bad idea, of course, and one of the woman’s companions even advised her to get out of the water, to which she replied a stubborn “No.” Turns out their companion was right, as it didn’t take long before a small alligator felt threatened, biting the woman. Thankfully, it appeared to be just a warning, and the gator let go immediately.

The woman who got bitten, meanwhile, didn’t seem too severely injured and didn’t have to go to a hospital to heal her gator bite wound. The bite wound has since healed up nicely, according to Rachel Ann Marie. The woman was also lucky that the alligator wasn’t a fully-grown adult, or things would’ve ended more gruesomely.

Not the Best Time or Place for a Dip

Regardless of what the woman in the video was trying to achieve by dipping into a swamp in the southern states of the US, a lot of viewers agreed that it was not a wise move. Sage advice was thus given in spades by people who have had plenty of encounters with alligators down south:

“If the waters wet down in Louisiana and Florida… there’s a Gator in it,” according to ga_dawg_fan_hbtmfnds

“Honestly got off pretty easy, gator could’ve taken off her hand,” claims uh_yeah_idk

Some people were a lot less sympathetic with the woman, given her careless behavior, especially in a place known to be an alligator habitat. Hence, plenty of people online have made fun of Rachel’s friend despite the wound she sustained from an alligator bite. Others have pointed out that she really should listen to her friends next time.

“She said no, and then got out real quick. 😭😭,” says steckters_420go

“Well.. he did say get outta there,” according to serenity.thaden

“That right there was an Accountability Alligator,” jokes pat10owich
