Recent rumors about the halt of future developments of Star Wars movies might have had young padawans hopeless to see more of their favorite galaxy. The disappointing sales, coupled with the lack of praise from audiences and critics alike, Solo: A Star Wars Story seemed to be the movie that would slowly crash the franchise. The spin-off featuring the origins of the fan-favorite smuggler received mixed to positive reviews with some stating that it did not capture the magic of the Star Wars franchise.

The movie did have a rough competition, releasing in between two of the most anticipated movies for comic book fans. Deadpool 2 featured the return of the fourth wall breaker merc with a mouth, while Avengers: Infinity War placed every MCU superhero into one big event. Even discounting these colossal competitions, many fans had expressed concerned of the movie’s success even before the movie had released. Some had argued the movie as a pointless spin-off, months before its actual release.

Nevertheless, despite the lack of enthusiasm of fans and critics for more spin-offs, Lucasfilm won’t stop the wheel. According to ABC News, Lucasfilm has denied having stopped development of future Star Wars spin-off films. In addition to these “multiple” films, they added that the main entry lines would not suffer from the development. Lucasfilm gave no further details regarding names or tentative release dates for the projects

The next main installment in the  Star Wars franchise that fans can hope to see soon is Star Wars Episode IX. The upcoming film looks to close this trilogy which revolves around Daisy Ridley’s character, Rey.

The movie is slated to release on December 20 of next year.
