At some point in the game, the Meowscular Chef will assign you the “★5 The Meat of the Matter” Quest. Clearing this sidequest will unlock the Marinated Carpaccio ingredient for the Canteen, letting you gain even more Food Skills. This mission will send you to Rotten Vale, which, as its name suggests, is filled with decaying remains and scavenging monsters desperate for survival. Discovering the location of edible Meat seems pretty tough. So where can you find this fresh ingredient to clear “The Meat of the Matter” Quest in Monster Hunter World?
MHW “★5 The Meat of the Matter” Quest: Where Can You Find the Lump of Meat?
The Lump of Meat for MHW “★5 The Meat of the Matter” Quest can be found in Area 13 of Rotten Vale. Spawn on Central Camp (11) since it is much closer to the location. Once you head inside the Odogaron’s den, take the vine wall on the right. The Scoutflies should highlight a carcass in front of a Bright Moss. Interact with it, and your Hunter will grab a ball of Meat from there, just like snatching an Egg from a monster’s nest. Let’s just hope it hasn’t gone too bad and still edible.
As the “★5 The Meat of the Matter” MHW Quest works just like an Egg Quest, you have to be careful. We recommend you eat from the Canteen to get the Stamina boost and use the Ghillie Mantle to avoid detection from monsters. Being chased by an Odogaron for taking its meal won’t be a fun time! Besides, getting flinched by a small monster, hearing a random large monster’s roar, or worse, getting paralyzed by Vespoid will make you drop the Meat.
We also recommend you take these Skills to make carrying the Meat easier. After all, you will need to drop 2 Lump of Meat at the Camp to complete the “★5 The Meat of the Matter” MHW Quest.
Armor Skills from armor:
- Flinch Free: Removes knockback.
- Marathon Runner: Reduces continuous Stamina depletion.
- Earplug: Reduces/Nullifies monster’s roar. Level 3 is enough for Odogaron.
Food Skills from the Canteen:
- Felyne Feet: Gives Flinch Free. Needs 4 ingredients.
- Felyne Cliffhanger: Reduces Stamina use when evading on climbable walls like vines. It’s a Daily Food Skill so it appears randomly.
