Talking with a soulless, corporate AI chatbot has been the bane of many people’s customer service experience these days, except for one woman in Arizona, who claims to prefer the contrary. Reddit user Amazing_Trainer6693 shared a screenshot of a chat in r/mildlyinfuriating, saying that it was with a car rental worker who got upset with her “over NOTHING.”
According to this snapshot of the conversation, the car rental employee became aggressive toward Trainer after she asked whether the total amount would contain “hidden fees.” The worker apparently took offense to this and told OP to rent a vehicle elsewhere. While the rest of the dialogue between the two wasn’t shared, Trainer protests she didn’t say anything bad to the employee.
“[This] made me miss talking to AI bots fr,” she remarked, adding that she had this talk with the rental car place around 4 in the afternoon. Trainer didn’t name the business but pinned her own comment saying it’s a “small car rental agency in Phoenix, Arizona.” She encouraged people who wanted details to DM her, but there were plenty of others who didn’t hesitate to criticize the worker.
Reddit Was Overwhelmingly in Favor of Condemning the Arizona Car Rental Employee’ and Her Behavior’s Behavior
“There will be in fact hidden fees, they don’t like being caught,” remarked a commenter. “That’s a sure fire sign that there’s definitely hidden fees,” agreed a second. “Definitely post a review with photos, cause that is insane,” demanded a third, to which OP responded, “Just did. They deserved that.”
Among the overwhelming demands to “name and shame” or review-bomb the business, plenty more shared the same sentiment: this car rental was doubtless going to charge extra fees. As for the worker’s behavior, very few believed it was mandated. “In my personal experience, every single car rental employee acts like they have absolutely no reason to provide any level of customer service,” wrote a Redditor.
In the end, the preference to speak with an AI bot over an actual representative is certainly a subjective one. That said, it’s still not hard to see Trainer’s point of view if the car rental employee really was being irrational.
