Fans of 90’s comedic show MadTV rejoice! The sketch comedy show that launched several careers will return this July.
New and veteran members reviving the sketch-comedy series starting July 26 at 9pm on The CW. Eight new performers will join former members for eight one-hour long episodes.
For one thing, these new members are nothing but newbies to the comedy scene. Carlie Craig is an actress, comic, singer, improviser, and impressionist. Chelsea Davison writes sketch comedy for shows like @Midnight. Jeremy D. Howard’s a master of improvisation and participated in the CBS Diversity Showcase. Amir K is well known for his stand-up comedy and his appearance on Last Comic Standing.
Lyric Lewis performed at the New Faces: Characters showcase in 2015. She also was a cast member in the 2015 CBS Diversity Showcase. Piotr Michael has appeared on The Howard Stern Show and is a popular voiceover actor. Michelle Ortiz’s bold humor complements her training as a classical opera singer. Adam Ray voices Slimer in the reboot of Ghostbusters.
The show will feature the typical political incorrectness and pop-culture references. Up-and-coming comedians will also have a chance to gain experience. MadTV will take a note from the past and have former members as hosts for each episode.
“MADtv is all about the cast and their characters… An amazing new cast of eight, plus fan favorites from our original 14 seasons.” said executive producer and showrunner David E. Salzman.
If you are nostalgic for classic MadTV, you can watch them on CW Seed.
