A Maryland saleswoman was left visibly shaken after an older customer allegedly brought up ICE during a confrontation at her workplace and made comments about her Hispanic background. The encounter became increasingly tense as he questioned her immigration status and continued bringing up ICE, even after she told him she has legal residency.
The video was filmed by the woman, who works at a Cricket Wireless location, from behind the counter. An older Black man and a younger Black man can be seen inside the store, but the older man does most of the talking. The saleswoman tells him he cannot come into the store and disrespect her or threaten her with ICE.
The man responds, “That’s why Trump don’t want you guys here,” to which she replies, “You and me are the same thing. You and me, my people are getting the same treatment, honey.”
The woman explains that she has papers and says she should not have to prove her status to him. The man continues questioning how she came to the country and accuses her of wanting to “take over.” She repeatedly asks him to leave and tells him she has worked for Cricket for a long time without having problems with other customers.
The woman later shared the video on TikTok through @mishell01.05. In the caption, she said the customer had treated her differently since meeting her because of her race and had previously threatened to call ICE on her.
She also acknowledged that she could have handled her reaction differently, but said the comments about her Hispanic background and immigration status deeply bothered her.

The video drew comments from people encouraging the woman to stay composed while also defending herself. One commenter wrote, “Look, don’t let people get u out of character.” Another said, “Some individuals lack kindness, and that is simply the case. You cannot let them disturb your inner peace so much that it disrupts your composure or causes you to act out of character; it is never worth that cost. I apologize that this occurred.”
A third commenter focused on the age difference, writing, “You’re a young girl, he’s an old man!! He had no business discussing anything with you other than his business in this store. I’m sorry this happened to you.” Another defended the woman, saying, “Glad you spoke out, dont let them disrespect you. Defend yourself and you spoke.” A fifth commenter simply wrote, “Some people are just straight up stupid and ignorant.”
The video comes as immigration has gotten contentious in Maryland, where ICE apprehended nearly 3,300 individuals in 2025, a figure that is more than twice the number from last year per the Deportation Data Project.
