A woman in Maine set out for a quick peek into some local dumpsters, and what she found was a man in need of her help. The woman often posts dumpster diving content to her social media page, showing the internet all of the perfectly good products she finds that businesses have thrown away. However, this time, she got a bit more than she expected when she opened up one dumpster and found a man living inside.
The video, posted by user @sydiesuenattienoodle, starts off with the woman wearing a purple coat pulling a step stool out of her car. She tells her dumpster diving partner, who is filming the video, that she has to be “quick.” The Maine woman then climbs onto the stool, opens up the lid of a dumpster and is startled to find a man living inside.
After seeing the man, she shuts the lid and quickly runs away from the dumpster. The two women get back into their car and attempt to drive away. However, the man comes to confront them. The driver rolls down the window a bit. “Can we help you?” she says. “That’s my house,” the homeless man tells her. “I’m hungry,” he adds.

The woman then asks if he would like something to eat, and he tells her yes. The video ends with the women giving him a hot tea and a meatball sub. He then goes back into the dumpster and shuts the lid.
However, the story doesn’t end there. In the caption of the video, the woman revealed a bit more of the story, revealing that she plans to help the homeless man even more. She also confirmed that he has a pet cat that lives in the dumpster with him.
“Tonight we met a homeless man named Peypey inside a dumpster while diving. He scared us away initially but he’s just hungry, and is just trying to feed his cat he only asked for a can opener,” she wrote.
“We’re posting our first encounter on TikTok and donating every Creator Rewards penny to him. We’re going back tomorrow with more food for him and his kitty,” she added, explaining how she wants to continue to help the man get back on his feet.
For the most part, TikTok was supportive of the woman’s decision to help the man. “Aww thank you guys for feeding him and not like running away in fear,” one person stated. “Bless you guys for going back to feed him!!!” said another. “You should get him a blanket,” another suggested.
It seems the Maine woman wants to help her new unexpected friend. However, she’s yet to provide an update on social media thus far.
