Although wedding pricing is ridiculous, the industry is hoping you’ll spend that kind of money on your special day. Imagine the surprise when one Texas woman discovered the quote her friend gave her for makeup for her wedding day. She expressed the absurdity on TikTok, listing it as one of the reasons she isn’t interested in marriage. Or, you know, you could maybe spend less on makeup. That’s also a choice!
Emily Landon used her TikTok to explain why she felt the makeup quote was outlandish. Yes, it is a special day, but you wouldn’t spend that kind of money on everyday things. You don’t have to. She starts with, “In today’s day and time, every aspect of a wedding is so outrageously expensive. I’m feeling so bad for the girls and the fiancés who are 2025 and 2026 brides.”
Emily goes on to tell the story of how her friend reached out to a very well-known makeup artist. The quote? An insane $125,000 for a few days’ time. She went on to say, “Right off the rip, we’re spending $125,000 and we haven’t even gotten to travel accommodations.” She continues, totally aghast, “This is just so shocking to me. But… 100 grand plus? I’m sorry, I can’t. I will not be getting married.”
However, commenters called out the bride through the video because decisions were made that racked up the bills on this wedding. If she was looking to save money on her wedding in any way, she went about this all wrong. Someone questioned her, “Okay but why would she reach out to a well-known MUA (who presumably works with A-listers)?”
Another said, “That’s like asking Harry Styles to perform at your wedding and being shocked when he asks for $2 million.” Others weighed in and said that they had somebody do their makeup for much less or that they even did it themselves on certain occasions. Imagine that, doing your own makeup and not being hit with a quote equivalent to the cost of a house.
One comment really stood out above the rest and drove home the most important point: “My wedding morning was very wholesome… The whole day was about love—not how I looked.” With many weddings stretching well over $30,000, you should always take a closer look at what’s necessary and most important to you if you’re working with a budget. In the end, saying “I do” to the love of your life is the most crucial thing.
