A confrontation at a gas station angered a bystander, who decided he was going to step in. A Louisiana man was recently making a purchase at his local gas station. That’s when he noticed an angry man confronting an employee who was just trying to do her job.
TikToker @wild.xhild stepped in when he discovered a gas station employee being treated badly, calling it a “racism alert.” Wild stated that the woman was just trying to mop the floor when an angry man became frustrated with her. Why? Apparently, she was in his way while cleaning the floor. She politely removed the bucket from where he was standing at the drink station. That’s when he allegedly threw his cup at her. Then, he started berating her until Wild stepped in and started filming.
While recording the confrontation, you can hear the employee telling the man, “Get out of my face.” She continues mopping the floor. He angrily stands there and berates her, pointing his phone camera at her. You can see his deposited drink cup on the floor, where it remained after he threw it at her. When the man finally walks away, the employee tells him, “We have cameras, too” just to let him know that his outburst was caught on video. When he tries to grab another cup to get a drink, the employee tells him he can leave. She says she’ll call the police since he wants to “throw stuff.” The man refuses to budge, getting his drink anyway.
When Wild calls out the man and tells him he’s being racist, the man turns to him and asks, “It’s what? This ain’t racist.” He tries to explain that he had a problem with the employee because she didn’t move out of his way, not because of her race. However, Wild stands firm on the fact that he believes it was a racist encounter. The man tries to say they’re “all the same,” which gets everybody even more riled up behind the camera.
Wild tries to explain to the angry cup-thrower that he shouldn’t have done that, saying, “This is a female.” He eventually pays for his drink and starts toward the door to leave the gas station, but leaves his keys behind. It’s clear that he was so flustered by the whole situation he started that he didn’t even notice he forgot them. One commenter pointed out on Wild’s video that he forgot his keys and a second commenter responded with, “I hope they drop the keys in the trash.”
Commenters pointed out that they think Wild went too easy on the man, given the situation and mistreatment of an employee. They prompted him to “call 911,” while another person asked, “Why would you let him buy anything from that store?” Another commenter stated, “I wouldn’t even serve him.”
This angry display shows what many people experience on the daily in customer service positions. It’s one more situation that was handled by somebody who wanted to offer protection to a worker in need. The general consensus in the comments was that Wild did the right thing.
