The wait is almost over

Out of all the games that showed up during the State of Play, the one we knew would certainly make an appearance was Marathon. Besides giving us more details of this long-awaited extraction shooter, we finally know when Marathon will host its preview weekend, which means it is time to start saving the date, cancel every other commitment you have, and grab our shells for some lootin’ and shootin’.

Marathon Announces Its Preview Weekend for February 26

Marathon has finally announced its preview weekend during the State of Play, which will take place from February 26 to March 2. Players will be able to try different systems from the game, including several shells, the core gameplay systems, and even unlock rewards for the full game. If you have PS Plus, you’ll even be able to unlock extra rewards for the game once it officially launches. Bungie will likely share more details once the Preview Weekend gets closer, but it is great to finally have a date.

As you can see, the road to Marathon is getting shorter, and people are extremely excited about everything that the developers have shown us. At first, some people were a bit skeptical of some of the systems, but we now have a lot of information out there, including how seasons will work and how challenging PvE will be.

On top of that, it seems that Marathon is aimed toward a more hardcore audience, yet that doesn’t mean it will be unfriendly to newcomers. Bungie has already discussed some beginner-friendly systems, and the game even features a free-kit-style class called Rook. And while we may not have a safe pocket system, the developers have already confirmed that progressing will be easy for all players, meaning that if you fail to extract, you’ll still be able to do some progress.

For now, all we can do is wait for the Preview Weekend and the game’s imminent release. Thankfully, we already know the dates of both, so all we have to do is mark our calendars to jump into some Marathon action.
