As you all know, the MOBA genre tends to be ruled by only a handful of titles that, unfortunately, haven’t shaken up these games for a while. Even if some still like them and log in daily, those of us craving something new just want something out of the box, and that’s precisely what Ubisoft is delivering. Today, we got a deeper look at March of Giants, a brand-new MOBA title that could finally give the genre that fresh feel we’ve all been waiting for.
Ubisoft Announces March of Giants With a Playtest On the Way
Today, Ubisoft unveiled an extended look at March of Giants, the studio’s gigantic (quite literally) MOBA project.
Instead of just playing a hero or champion, you become a giant leading an army through the MOBA trenches. In this 4v4 scenario, you’ll have to push lanes alongside your army, which isn’t just there to fill the screen. Your army can scout, attack other giants, and even help defend your lanes from other players.
Speaking of which, you’ll be able to deploy Battleworks, which essentially change the whole battlefield. As shown in the trailer, some of these Battleworks will allow you to dig trenches, set up a bunker to attack another giant, and more.
Now, while all of the above sounds extremely exciting, many might be pondering: “When can we play it?” The answer is: soon.
Ubisoft also announced that a playtest is coming on October 7, and it will be available until October 18. You can already register on Steam to hopefully try it, and even invite a couple of friends to join you for the ride. Participating in the test will give you Pioneer Points. If you manage to reach 1,000 points, you’ll get the Pioneer status, which will give you the following:
- Pandemos: Permanently unlock our newest Giant when he arrives on October 12 – for this and all future playtests, and when March of Giants enters Early Access.
- Pioneer Medal: Get the Pioneer status beside your name in every match.
- Early Access Pack: Receive a free Early Access Pack, including exclusive profile customizations, when March of Giants enters Early Access. Early Access date TBD.
Every win gives you 100 points, and a loss gives you 50 points. But if you want to get points faster, you can watch a Match of Giants streamer or join the official Discord for a 20% boost.
As you can see, March of Giants is bringing out the big guns (literally) for what could be one of the most unique and engaging MOBA experiences of recent times. So, if you want to try it, remember to register for the playtest and mark your calendar because it is right around the corner.
