NBA legend Micheal Jordan‘s son, Marcus Jordan, is in trouble with the law again. After his 2012 incident that included resisting arrest, 2025 has started for him on the same note. Marcus was arrested and booked in Florida on Tuesday for DUI and drug possession. The incident reportedly happened at around 1am in Maitland, Florida. He was sent to Orange County Jail after failing three field sobriety tests. Officers on sight believed he was behaving drunkenly and suspected he fled a traffic stop before getting stuck on a train track.
Although the 34-year-old has now been released from jail, he was charged with driving under intoxication, cocaine possession, and resisting arrest, per TMZ. This is not the NBA Hall of Fame’s son’s first rodeo. Marcus was arrested in 2012 after getting into a drunken altercation with two women outside of a hotel in Omaha, Nebraska. Marcus was charged with resisting arrest, obstruction of justice, and disorderly conduct. He later pleaded no contest to disturbing the peace and was fined $250 plus court costs.
Marcus Jordan Slammed as ‘A Loser’ After Florida DUI Arrest
Marcus’ arrest did not sit well with his father’s fans and critics. When his name hit the headlines for his arraignment, the harsh words came flying on X. One commenter predicted Marcus’ future declaring his recent experiences will not enable him to inherit “his dad’s billionaire dollar businesses.” Another disappointed fan who wasn’t ready to mince their words wrote:
“Looks like Michael Jordan’s DNA took a wrong turn when his son was born.”
One less-than-impressed NBA fan who thought he should be concentrating on his career gave him flak for “busy sniffing” instead. Another fan of his GOAT father simply asked, “How you MJ son and a loser smh.” A commenter who was not sympathetic to the 34-year-old’s ordeal wondered when he would start playing the victim. The critic subsequently made reference to an alleged image of Marcus from France that went viral.
However, it was not all harsh words for Marcus, as some commenters showed a bit of empathy. One person hoped the arrest was the “bottom” he needed to “start rebuilding his life…” Another commenter declared they “feel bad for him.” They also made reference to the impossible standard his dad created for him to walk through. Other critics thought the whole situation was “embarrassing,” while another person tried to draw a link between his drug life and his recent relationship.
Inside Marcus Jordan and Larsa Pippen’s Whirlwind Romance
Although the critic who tried to link Marcus’ arrest to his just concluded relationship might be off by miles, the romance had its fair share of backlash. 50-year-old Larsa Pippen and Marcus’ romance became public in 2023, but their first sighting was in 2022. Reports show they met at a party in Los Angeles in 2019.
However, fast forward to March 2024, the couple called it quits after briefly reconciling a month before. The controversy that trailed the relationship also surfaced around the breakup. Many believed the split was about their age difference, amongst other rumors. We covered a report where Pippen debunked the “age difference” theory.
While appearing on Amy & T. J podcast, the Real Housewives of Miami star referenced distance as the factor rather than age. She believed being away from Marcus gave her the clarity she needed about her love life. In her words, “I think when you’re alone, you kind of really either miss the person or realize maybe you’re not my guy, and I feel like that made me realize that I don’t think he’s my guy.”
